Kuiper is posing in front of a Titan I ICBM (intercontinental ballistic missile) in a park in Kimball, Nebraska. Titan I rockets were the first multistage ICBM built by the United States. They were in use from 1962-1965, but were made obsolete by the deployment of Titan II in 1963. Titan I was not used in the space program, but its successor was used to launch Gemini.
